Animal Control Duties include: Rabies control and prevention; Bite investigations; Animal quarantine; Laboratory diagnosis and rabies prevention referrals; Enforcement of the county Animal Controls Ordinance; Rabies vaccinations; Stray dogs and cats; Dog and cat nuisances; Dangerous dogs; Investigation of animal attacks; Dangerous dog classifications; Dangerous dog confiscations; Animal adoptions; Public education and information program


This section enforces the Polk County's Animal Control Ordinance and the state's Dangerous Dog statue both inside and outside all city limits.

Animal Control investigates bite cases and dangerous dog cases. This agency also provides:

Animal adoption programs; picks up sick or injured dogs and cats; and quarantines animals. When inquiring about animals viewed on our website, you must provide the animal ID number from the website.
