Umbrella of Hope exists to rescue, rehibilitate, and rehome animals from shelter situations with a focus on East Contra Costa County, California. Our focus is senior, special needs, medically needy, shy and plain dogs and cats from our local animal services departments.

Our goal is to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable animals through increased adoptions of those animals already born, to help increase public safety by reducing the number of strays and feral animals who might carry disease or pose other dangers to the community through population control by spay/neuter, to increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.

We also help other rescue groups get their animals ready for adoption by providing low cost surgical procedures and dental work through our Rescue Connect Clinic and we transfer many adoption-ready animals to partners in Nevada, Oregon, South Lake Tahoe, Boise and Canada.

Our albums are UP TO DATE with available animals. We focus on senior, special needs, medically needy, shy and plain SMALL dogs. We occasionally help larger dogs on a space-available basis. We occasionally take adult cats. We welcome kittens with special needs on a space-available basis. We take hospice dogs on a space-available basis. We do not accept pets from the public and all requests to take animals must come DIRECTLY from the shelter that has possession of the animal and not from networkers, cross-posters or members of the public as we have spent too much time chasing down outdated information.
